Job Description
As a Junior Microbiologist at Freshpet, you will support our Food Safety & Quality Assurance team by conducting essential microbiological testing and ensuring all standards are met. Your contributions will help maintain the highest standards of food quality and safety for our products. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will be involved in data interpretation, issue tracking, and process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Ensure proper documentation of all lab activities and test results per company policies.
- Assist in investigating and evaluating non-conformance occurrences through collaborative, cross-functional processes.
- Help maintain lab equipment and ensure the cleanliness and order of the microbiology lab.
- Contribute to food safety programs and initiatives aimed at continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, or Biology required
- Leadership qualities with the ability to lead a team when appropriate
- Ability to conduct microbiological testing following established procedures and safety standards
- Experience or familiarity with managing research data in an organized way
- Ability to interact professionally in lab settings and communicate with cross-functional teams
Salary & Benefits
Salary Range: $73,000.00 – $90,000.00 Annually
