About the Role:

The Associate Scientist I, Biology (Biochemistry) will support early-stage research and drug discovery aimed at identifying new chemical entities (NCEs) and advancing lead optimization. This position will contribute directly to lab-based research and high-throughput screening activities in a collaborative scientific environment.

Biochemistry Job at PTC Therapeutics- Key Responsibilities:

• Execute laboratory experiments under limited supervision

• Apply core scientific and biochemical principles to research tasks

• Maintain comprehensive lab notebooks and contribute to project discussions

• Design, validate, and conduct biochemical and cell-based assays

• Support high-throughput screening, assay development, and SAR studies

• Assist in mechanism-of-action studies and preclinical model development

• Participate in general lab operations, including equipment maintenance and inventory

• Present data and contribute to patent applications and internal publications

Biochemistry Job at PTC Therapeutics – Core Skills & Expertise:

• Strong HPLC experience, particularly for biological sample analysis

• Proficiency in flow cytometry and FACS

• Skilled in handling human and mouse blood samples

• Experience in mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein purification

• Expertise in qPCR, Western blotting, and endpoint PCR

• Immunoassay experience (MSD, ELISA) preferred

• Background in neuroscience or assay development is a plus

Biochemistry Job at PTC Therapeutics- Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline, preferably Biochemistry, Biology or Neuroscience with a minimum of 4 years’ experience, OR, Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with a minimum of 1- 2 years of relevant experience.

• Strong analytical and time management skills

• Effective communication and teamwork abilities

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint

Additional Information:

• Travel requirement: up to 5%

• Office/Laboratory-based position
