About the Role
As a Biochemist within the Downstream Processing Team, you will be part of a global matrix organization focused on the recovery and purification of fermentation products. This includes proteins and organic molecules, contributing to life-enhancing biotech production workflows.
You will execute operations using chromatographic systems, ensure documentation under ISO 9001 & ISO 13485, and apply analytical skills to ensure regulatory compliance and process efficiency.
Biochemist Job at Merck – Key Responsibilities
- Perform protein and organic molecule recovery and purification from fermentation batches
- Execute chromatographic and in-process analytical assays
- Operate and troubleshoot complex bioprocess skids and instrumentation
- Maintain accurate documentation and batch records
- Monitor real-time production data using SAP systems
- Contribute to continuous improvement and implementation of new technologies
- Align with QA, QC, engineering, and logistics teams to meet production goals
Biochemist Job at Merck – Qualifications
Education:
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. / Practical Engineering in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related fields
- Proficiency in Hebrew and English (written & verbal)
Experience (Preferred but not mandatory):
- Industrial biotech or biochemical manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with chromatography/HPLC systems
- SAP and GMP/ISO regulatory compliance knowledge
- Capability in troubleshooting and optimizing production
