Job Description
Zoetis is seeking a Protein Expression Senior Associate Scientist to join the Protein Sciences group within Discovery Sciences and Technologies (DST) in Kalamazoo, MI. The role involves producing high-quality proteins from both mammalian and bacterial systems to support the development of novel therapeutics. The successful candidate will apply expertise in molecular and cell biology to ensure efficient protein production and characterization.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression (transient and stable) of recombinant gene constructs.
- Conduct small- to large-scale protein production runs to support discovery, assay development, and early therapeutic development.
- Construct expression vectors for generating stable pools of protein-expressing cells.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and documentation with scientific precision.
- Represent the Protein Sciences team by presenting data at project team meetings.
Qualifications

Basic:
- Bachelor’s degree in cell biology, molecular biology, or related field with 1+ years of hands-on experience.
- Proficiency in cell biology and aseptic cell culture across multiple cell types.

Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in teams.
- Knowledge of molecular biology and protein analysis techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western Blot).
- Hands-on experience in recombinant protein expression (E. coli, yeast, mammalian systems).
- Experience in generating recombinant cell lines is an advantage.
