Internship Overview:

As a Quality Assurance/Food Safety Intern, you will:

  • Monitor employees and plant procedures according to SQF code, Food Security, and Defense standards.

  • Assist in intervention validation studies, sanitary operations, and animal welfare monitoring.

  • Maintain daily records of finished product quality: ground beef sampling, HACCP temperature checks, metal detector/x-ray checks, and specification checks.

  • Ensure critical control points function effectively.

  • Support QA personnel and production with third-party audit preparations.

  • Learn and maintain the plantโ€™s humane handling, safety, and quality assurance expectations.

  • Recommend process improvements to strengthen the QA program.

  • Collect and analyze data related to product quality and food safety metrics.

  • Assist with documentation, QA protocols, and compliance processes.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of sophomore year (second year) at an accredited college or university.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work in office and manufacturing environments with PPE.

  • Reliable transportation to and from the workplace.

  • Preferred fields of study are typically Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related Life Sciences, since the role is in food safety and quality assurance.
