BS Microbiology Job Description
The Microbiology Laboratory Specialist II (MLS II) supports research and development by performing molecular and microbiological experiments and procedures, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, bacterial and fungal culture, and sequencing. The role involves collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting data accurately in compliance with established protocols, safety regulations, and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct molecular and microbiological techniques, including PCR, sequencing, microbial culture, and nucleic acid extraction.
- Record, verify, and analyze data while ensuring compliance with company protocols and quality systems.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment and ensure proper inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Collaborate with peers and supervisors in a team-based environment to support R&D activities.
- Work safely in a Biosafety Level 2/2+ laboratory with pathogenic microbes and human specimens.
- Contribute to study protocol execution, optimization, and documentation.
- Train and mentor team members on laboratory practices and procedures.
- Present findings in written and oral formats and support the preparation of study reports.
BS Microbiology Job – Educational Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline is required.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an academic, industry, or healthcare laboratory.
- Experience with real-time PCR, sequence analysis, and microbiology techniques.
- Familiarity with Biosafety Level 2 practices.
- Strong knowledge of molecular biology and microbiology principles.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, sterile handling, and contamination control.
- Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Comfort working with biosafety level 2/2+ pathogens and human specimens.
