The Cancer Science Institute (CSI) at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is seeking a Research Assistant for Dr. Peter Yeow’s newly established lab. About the Lab

Dr. Peter Yeow’s lab focuses on uncovering cancer-specific vulnerabilities in cell division machinery, with particular interest in the TRIM family of E3 ubiquitin ligases. The lab aims to translate these insights into novel therapeutic strategies, studying protein assemblies involved in mitosis, immune signaling, and protein homeostasis.

Role Overview

This position allows you to contribute to both the scientific and operational setup of a new lab. You will assist with experimental research, lab management, and workflow coordination while gaining exposure to advanced cancer research.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Laboratory Commissioning & Setup

  • Assist PI with lab space organization, equipment procurement, installation, and calibration.
  • Establish and maintain laboratory SOPs.
  • Coordinate with institutional facilities, vendors, and IT to ensure operational readiness.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of lab supplies and reagents.
  1. Experimental Research Support

  • Perform cell and molecular biology experiments, including mammalian cell culture, cloning, and immunoblotting.
  • Support ongoing experiments led by lab members with appropriate training.

Data Collection & Analysis

  • Collect, organize, and document experimental data using Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN).

  1. Collaborative & Administrative Tasks

  • Support lab members and project coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional safety and operational guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences (Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related fields).
  • Prior experience in lab setup and management preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Passion for biology and contributing to CSI’s cancer research mission.
