Education:

Associate degree in Life Science or related field (preferred)

Experience:

  • 2+ years of laboratory experience, ideally in commercial food-testing or analytical laboratories
  • Knowledge of aseptic sampling techniques and automated lab equipment
  • Familiarity with GLP, OSHA, FDA, BAM, APHA, ISO, and USP methods

Laboratory Analyst Job Description:

The Lab Analyst 1 will perform analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples. This position applies and evaluates approved microbial techniques and methodologies, ensuring accurate results and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and accurately read test results; report any deviations to Laboratory Management.
  • Prepare and analyze samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
  • Apply aseptic/microbiological techniques in daily operations
  • Maintain inventory and report expendable supplies needed for testing
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning, sanitizing, and equipment quality control
  • Assist in quality duties such as incubator temperature monitoring, control organism inoculation, and media controls
  • Follow FSNS procedures and customer requirements for assigned tasks
  • Maintain technical competence through professional development and awareness of industry trends
  • Ensure safety, hygiene, and efficiency in all laboratory activities
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve individual and team goals

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Involves a range of activities from computer work to potential exposure to hazards. Requires dexterity, possible exposure to odors and chemicals, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
