Qualifications:
- BS degree in Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, or related discipline with 3+ years of experience in DSP.
- MS degree with 2+ years of relevant academic or industry DSP experience.
Associate Scientist Job Description:
The Senior Associate Scientist in Downstream Bioprocess Development plays an essential role in supporting Zoetis’ global biopharmaceutical and vaccine strategies. The role involves developing purification processes, supporting GMP manufacturing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams across research, bacteriology, virology, formulation, and bioanalytical sciences.
Associate Scientist Job Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and optimizing processes for biologics antigen production and recombinant protein purification.
- Collaborate with pilot and manufacturing teams for successful technology transfer.
- Conduct process characterization studies, including DOE approaches.
- Serve as a technical resource for chromatography and filtration methods.
- Perform antigen purification, viral and bacterial concentration for vaccine development.
- Author study reports, protocols, and technology transfer documents for regulatory filings.
- Represent Downstream Processing (DSP) on interdisciplinary project teams.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records in compliance with SOPs.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong theoretical knowledge in protein chemistry, biotechnology, and biochemistry.
- Hands-on experience with chromatography, filtration, cell disruption, and related analytical techniques (HPLC, gel electrophoresis, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, protein assays).
- Familiarity with automated chromatography software (Unicorn/AKTA systems).
- Strong communication, teamwork, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to design and analyze multi-factorial experiments.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail.
