Job Description:

The Scientist – Oligonucleotide Chemistry Job involves joining Lilly’s Genetic Medicine team to design, synthesize, and analyze RNA oligonucleotide drug candidates. This exciting scientist role includes developing novel chemistries, using advanced instrumentation, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in neuroscience, diabetes, and immunology. Key Responsibilities:

In this scientist job, you will:

  • Design and execute automated workflows for synthesizing and purifying ASOs, siRNAs, SSOs, and related oligonucleotides.
  • Perform synthesis and purification of innovative phosphoramidite monomers and conjugate ligands to oligonucleotides for targeted delivery.
  • Apply analytical techniques such as UV-Vis, NMR, HPLC, and LC-MS to evaluate synthetic compounds.
  • Interpret, organize, and present research data to project teams.
  • Support troubleshooting and contribute scientific insights to ongoing projects.
  • Maintain accurate electronic lab notebooks and comply with Lilly’s quality standards.
  • Assist in lab operations, including reagent preparation, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Lilly’s Genetic Medicine group.
  • Strictly follow health and safety protocols.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the laboratory environment.

Additional Skills:

To excel in this scientist position, you should bring

  • Strong background in organic synthesis and chromatographic purification.
  • Proficiency with HPLC, LC-MS, and analytical data interpretation.
  • Experience in conjugation/bioconjugation chemistry, as well as solid-phase synthesis, is highly desirable.
