Role Summary
Mérieux NutriSciences is seeking a Microbiologist I (2nd Shift) at its Crete, IL location (3600 Eagle Nest Dr, North Building) to perform microbiological analyses, support quality compliance, and maintain lab operations. This is a second shift position, requiring adherence to lab SOPs, quality guidelines, and diagnostic testing responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities

Follow SOPs and methods for microbiological testing; maintain QC records

Read, calculate, and record data using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

Conduct rapid test methods and confirmatory tests on suspect samples

Perform sample preparation: weighing, blending, pipetting, agar plating

Enter and evaluate process control sample data

Support root cause analyses and suggest corrective actions

Maintain equipment, perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting

Assist with inventory management, training, and lab safety protocols

Uphold corporate quality systems and continuous improvement efforts

Participate in cleaning schedules, safety compliance, and documentation
Qualifications & Skills

1-2 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory

Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent

Basic knowledge of microbiology, food science, and laboratory safety

Familiarity with LIMS or comparable lab information systems

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and manual dexterity

Ability to work second shift and physical capacity for lab work (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, handling chemicals)
