Research Technician Job Opportunity – Overview

Avantor is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Research Technician to join our Translational Pathology Laboratory in Cambridge, UK. This full-time opportunity allows you to contribute to biomarker identification and analysis across multiple drug projects from early discovery to clinical trials, gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge translational research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue sectioning, slide scanning, and generate digital images for pathology analysis.
  • Construct and manage Tissue Micro-Arrays (TMAs) and maintain xenograft sample inventories.
  • Execute routine immunohistochemical staining and support cell culture activities.
  • Track and manage human samples using LIMS systems, ensuring accurate data handling.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and consumables to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with SHE, GCP, HTA, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support multiple drug projects.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in laboratory processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications for Research Technician Job Opportunity

  • Degree in bioscience/life sciences or equivalent laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on experience in histopathology, tissue sectioning, and digital slide scanning.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic sample tracking systems.
  • Knowledge of UK Human Tissue Act, COSHH, and SHE policies.
