About the Role

As a Summer Intern – AI-Based Protein Design to join Research Team and help expand what’s possible for patients with serious diseases. This role reports directly to the Senior Scientist, Deep Learning. The Insmed Summer Internship Program provides more than a glimpse into the pharmaceutical industry. It’s a chance to make a real impact. Over the summer, you will:

This is a full-time, paid internship (40 hours per week). Opportunities for rotational assignments may be available. Interns are given clear objectives aligned with Insmed’s strategic goals.

What You’ll Do

As part of this AI and computational biology internship, you’ll apply machine learning to de-novo design and optimize protein therapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build AI architectures to generate and optimize protein candidates guided by multiple protein properties
  • Develop and implement AI algorithms to predict protein behavior using general and target-specific data
  • Curate new datasets for AI model training and fine-tuning
  • Collaborate with computational and experimental scientists to advance biotherapeutics discovery
  • Present findings effectively to team members from diverse backgrounds

Who Can Apply for this Computational Biology Internship?

You are currently pursuing a PhD or MS in one of the following fields: Computational Biology or another quantitative discipline

You possess:

  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with ML/DL frameworks (e.g., PyTorch)
  • Understanding of AI architectures (especially generative models)
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry, biology, and protein science
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience with large-scale data cleaning
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing or cloud platforms

Where You’ll Work

This is a fully remote Life Science Internship, allowing you to work effectively from anywhere while staying connected to your Insmed team and community. Occasional travel for team meetings or events may be required.

Pay Range: $20.00 – $35.00 per hour
