Educational Requirements for the Quality Lab Associate:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related science field.
- Preferred: Prior experience working in a GMP-regulated laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Quality Lab Associate:
- Perform microbiological testing (bioburden, sterility, growth promotion) on in-process and finished products.
- Conduct maintenance of microbial cultures, gram staining, and microbial identification.
- Manage and analyze microbiology samples from raw materials and devices through final testing.
- Perform investigational work to identify root causes of out-of-specification (OOS) results.
- Document and process samples following strict laboratory and GMP guidelines.
- Author microbiology investigations, method validations, and summary reports.
- Participate in continuous improvement and contamination control activities.
- Conduct on-site manufacturing observations to identify microbial contamination sources.
Skills Required for the Quality Lab Associate Position:
- Strong knowledge of microbiology techniques (bioburden, sterility, microbial ID).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with GMP standards and laboratory documentation practices.
- Experience using enterprise software like BPLM or Trackwise (preferred).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
