About the Role

The R&D Specialist (Packaging) plays a critical role in managing and executing product development and production activities. The position focuses on producing R&D package product samples for internal and external customers, supporting innovation and product quality within Nissin Foodsโ€™ operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Food Science Jobs

Under the supervision of the R&D Manager, the selected candidate will:

  • Understand a variety of cuisines and formulate soups creatively and traditionally.

  • Benchmark Nissin products with competitors for continuous improvement.

  • Perform activities related to product development such as:

    • Conceptualization, formulation, and prototype evaluation

    • Optimization, standardization, and cost calculation

    • Commercial translation and product launch preparation

  • Select and negotiate pricing for new and current materials to reduce costs.

  • Design and test products to ensure shelf-life stability, flavor, color, texture, and nutritional content.

  • Conduct product testing and analysis, presenting results for improvement.

  • Research consumer trends and awareness related to product development and legal compliance.

  • Execute consumer taste validation studies internally and externally.

  • Collaborate with process engineers, plant management, marketing specialists, and external clients to ensure timely project delivery.

  • Conduct production trials to ensure successful new and revised product launches.

  • Monitor production for plant capability and conformance to design criteria, and train plant operators.

  • Understand and apply laws and regulations related to food labeling and additives.

  • Prepare and present reports, demonstrations, and documentation, including:

    • Test reports

    • Standard formulations

    • Standard processes for commercialization and food safety

  • Manage materials, laboratory apparatus, and inventory.

  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements for Food Science Jobs

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree (B.S.) in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in Research and Development or related areas in the food industry.

Preferred Skills:

    • Strong understanding of food formulations and packaging design.
