Scientist Job Summary

The Scientist I is a hands-on laboratory scientist specializing in molecular-based assays. Reporting to the Head of Analytical Development, this role involves experimental design, method development, and technology transfer. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to meet project timelines while collaborating effectively across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments for molecular-based assays including qPCR and ddPCR.
  • Support method development, qualification, and technology transfer to GMP environments.
  • Prepare technical documentation such as method protocols, development reports, and transfer reports.
  • Apply cGMP principles in daily lab practices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for molecular assays.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Mentor or support junior scientists as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualificational Requirement for Scientist Jobs

Education

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Experience

  • Ph.D. + 2+ years of hands-on molecular biology experience OR BS/MS + 8+ years of significant practical molecular biology experience.
  • Working knowledge of cGMP requirements.
  • Experience with cell culture (iPSC preferred) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with method development, qualification, and tech transfer in regulated settings.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • On-site position (Seattle, WA) — Not remote.
  • Standard office and lab-adjacent environment.
  • Frequent use of video conferencing and digital collaboration tools.
  • Must be able to lift 10–20 lbs.
  • May work near laboratories and manufacturing areas with exposure to blood, blood products, or OPIM while using required PPE.
