Microbiology Job Overview
LabCorp is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join the Microbiology department in Raritan, NJ. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess specimen acceptability based on established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures per SOPs
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
- Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls
- Report accurate and timely test results
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control
- Maintain testing bench supplies
- Assist with specimen processing as needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to PPE requirements
Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a qualifying non-traditional degree that meets CLIA/state requirements
- Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
- Prior microbiology experience in Parasitology highly preferred
- Working knowledge of clinical microbiology processes and equipment (e.g., MALDI-TOF, VITEK2)
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with computers; LIS experience is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision test
- Flexibility for overtime or shift adjustments based on business needs
