  • Shift hours: 8:00 AM โ€“ 5:00 PM or 12:00 PM โ€“ 9:00 PM
  • Reporting To: Gene Assembly Manager / Production Manager
  • Eligibility: Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Louisville, KY

Educational Requirements for the Molecular Technologist Role:

  • Associate or Bachelorโ€™s degree in a Life Science field
  • 1+ years of laboratory experience in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry

Key Responsibilities of the Molecular Technologist Role:

  • Perform plasmid preparation workflows (mini, midi, maxi, giga preps) in a high-throughput lab
  • Transform, pick, and culture Escherichia coli colonies
  • Prepare glycerol stocks and plasmids for sequencing; quantify DNA by O.D.
  • Troubleshoot production issues during plasmid workflows
  • Record all steps, conditions, and concentrations in status logs
  • Prepare media, buffers, reagents, and lab consumables
  • Conduct labware cleaning, autoclaving, and daily decontamination
  • Prepare final plasmid products for shipment
  • Follow ISO 13485-compliant protocols and quality standards
  • Maintain supplies and support overall laboratory operations
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to meet production goals

Skills Required for the Molecular Technologist Role:

  • Strong understanding of basic molecular biology techniques
  • Ability to work in high-throughput lab environments
  • High attention to detail and accurate record-keeping
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets for sample tracking and documentation
  • Strong work ethic, organization, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Experience in sequencing, genome centers, or high-throughput workflows (preferred)
