Job Summary
The Sample Management Technician I performs tasks related to the processing, storage, documentation, and management of study samples. Responsibilities include sample receipt, labeling, inventory management, and client support, all in compliance with GLPs and SOPs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Interpret study protocols with guidance.
- Complete Watson inventory training.
- Perform sample receipt, processing, labeling, and storage activities.
- Create labels for collection tubes and vials.
- Train in blood-related procedures and techniques.
- Communicate sample discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain blood supply inventory and notify staff when supplies require ordering.
- Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Support proper storage conditions for incoming samples according to protocol requirements.
- Clean and maintain blood processing areas (centrifuges, equipment, countertops, coolers).
- Perform data entry and documentation to track sample processing status accurately.
- Retrieve and restock study materials as needed.
- Maintain documentation demonstrating positive control and chain of custody for study materials (with guidance).
- Manage sample processing workflows and maintain associated records.
- Complete required training in a timely manner.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Pay Range for Freshers Life Science Jobs
$21.00 – $23.00 per hour. Compensation varies based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Associate Life Science degree preferred
- GLP experience preferred
Experience
- 0–1 year experience in a life science laboratory
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Skills & Other Requirements
- Strong attention to detail
- General familiarity with laboratory procedures
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Smartsheets
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines efficiently
