Educational Requirements for the Microbiologist Role:
- Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline
- Relevant laboratory or industrial microbiology experience
- Experience in beverage, food, or manufacturing environments is advantageous
Key Responsibilities of the Microbiologist:
- Perform routine and positive-release microbiological testing across the site
- Conduct classical microbiology techniques including aseptic sampling, plating, staining, microscopy, and product testing
- Prepare analytical reagents and manage laboratory consumables and stock levels
- Participate in microbiological ring schemes and support internal and external audits
- Provide timely and accurate microbiological data to support production and quality decisions
- Support Quality Sample Plans and compliance with food safety certifications (FSSC 22000, ISO 9000)
- Assist with commercialization trials and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with central microbiology experts and participate in weekly microbiology review calls
- Provide cross-functional support across the wider Quality team when required
Skills Required for the Microbiologist Role:
- Strong technical knowledge of classical microbiology techniques
- Experience working in analytical, microbiological, or manufacturing laboratories
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and data integrity
- Solid understanding of GMP, food safety, and quality standards
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, 24/7 production environment
