Educational Requirements for bioinformatician role:

  • MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related field
  • BSc candidates may be considered with equivalent relevant experience

Key Responsibilities for bioinformatician role:

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for large-scale imaging and sequencing datasets
  • Set up and manage GPU/HPC infrastructure for multi-omics analysis and deep learning workflows
  • Maintain data storage, versioning, and retrieval following FAIR data principles
  • Build reproducible workflows using Snakemake, Nextflow, or WDL
  • Analyze multiplex immunofluorescence images using tools such as QuPath, ImageJ, and Cellpose
  • Integrate spatial biology data with genomic and transcriptomic datasets
  • Perform bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics analysis
  • Conduct NGS analysis including variant calling and gene expression studies

Skills Required for bioinformatician role:

  • Strong proficiency in Python, R, Java/Groovy, and Bash scripting
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments
  • Knowledge of Docker, Apptainer, or other containerized environments
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI techniques for image and genomic analysis
  • Experience with bioinformatics pipelines such as STAR, Cell Ranger, Seurat, DESeq2, Scanpy
  • Ability to work effectively as a bioinformatician in a multidisciplinary research team
