Educational Requirements:
Ph.D. in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics, or related field
Key Responsibilities for Research Scientist Role:
- Conduct large-scale genetic studies, including GWAS and polygenic risk scoring
- Integrate multi-omics and single-cell transcriptomics data for disease mechanism insights
- Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines and statistical genetics methods
- Prepare manuscripts, scientific reports, and presentations
- Train postdoctoral fellows, graduate, and undergraduate students
- Stay updated on advances in genetics, computational biology, and neurodegeneration research
Skills Required for Research Scientist Role:
- Expertise in GWAS, population genetics, or single-cell genomics
- Programming proficiency in R, Python, and Unix/Linux
- Experience with genetic analysis tools like PLINK, GCTA, METAL
- Familiarity with high-performance computing environments
- Knowledge of AI/ML applications in bioinformatics
