Purpose of the Food Safety Management Specialist Role:
The Food Safety Management Specialist defines and governs Royal Canin’s global food safety strategy, ensuring prevention and reduction of food safety hazards through HACCP, FSMS, FSSC, and regulatory frameworks. The role owns the standardization, deployment, compliance monitoring, and continuous improvement of food safety systems across the Royal Canin manufacturing network.
Key Responsibilities:
- In this Food Safety Management Specialist Role, you have to define and lead the Royal Canin global HACCP & FSMS strategy
- Govern the deployment of food safety programs across all RC factories
- Ensure alignment with Mars frameworks, FDA FSMA (Animal Food Rule), and HARPC requirements
- Maintain and evolve the global HACCP plan, including Hazard analysis, Process flows, CCPs, OPRPs, and PRPs, for Food Science Jobs at Mars.
- Develop future technical solutions that may become new CCPs/OPRPs
- Own and manage RC-level standards, HACCP, FSMS, ISO 22000, FSSC, Food Defense, FDA FSMA Animal Food Rule in the Food Safety Management Specialist Role.
- Lead external certification programs (including FSSC)
- Drive global compliance and close non-conformities
- Monitor KPIs and report performance to Royal Canin and Mars leadership
- Capitalize on learnings from audits, incidents, and deviations
- Build and deploy training programs for FSMS and HACCP
- Define organizational knowledge frameworks
- Lead the Q&FS Food Safety Management Systems Community
- Act as Q&FS advisor to internal and cross-functional stakeholders
Required Qualifications for the Food Safety Management Specialist Role:
- Tertiary degree in Biology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Processing, or a related discipline
- Strong expertise in HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), ISO 9001 / ISO 22000, FSSC
- Proven experience in the food or petfood industry quality & food safety
- Strong understanding of petfood manufacturing, supply chains, and technology
- Fluent in English
- Experienced auditor (ICA / IRCA accreditation is a strong advantage)
