Bioinformatics Jobs in Germany

Explore a cutting-edge Bioinformatics job at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. This postdoctoral opportunity combines computational biology jobs, multi-omics data analysis, and high-throughput screening to advance cancer research. Ideal for life science graduates, this role offers flexible work arrangements, international collaboration, and access to state-of-the-art infrastructure.

About DKFZ

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is one of Europe’s largest cancer research centers. “Research for a life without cancer” is the mission of our world-class scientists and team members. At DKFZ, the brightest minds pursue bold ideas, exploring pioneering scientific questions through collaboration, innovation, and interdisciplinary approaches. We provide a dynamic environment with state-of-the-art technologies, cutting-edge infrastructure, and a global scientific network. Contribute your knowledge, vision, and dedication to transform scientific discovery in cancer research into tangible benefits for human health.

Position Overview

In collaboration with the Department of Molecular Human Genetics at Heidelberg University, the Division of Signaling and Functional Genomics at DKFZ is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher as soon as possible.

The division, led by Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros, pioneers novel methods for high-throughput genetic and pharmacological perturbations to systematically analyze signaling pathways and gene-drug interactions.

We work with model systems including:

  • Drosophila
  • Human cell cultures
  • Patient-derived organoids

…using high-throughput screens (e.g., RNAi, CRISPR/Cas9, small molecules).

Our computational efforts include:

  • Algorithms and software for RNAi and CRISPR reagent identification and off-target prediction (E-RNAi, E-CRISP)
  • Public databases of functional screening data (GenomeRNAi, GenomeCRISPR)
  • Integrative analysis of multi-omics datasets such as RNASeq (bulk or single-cell) and long-read genomics

Your Tasks in Bioinformatics Jobs

  • Develop and adapt bioinformatics approaches for experimental design, data analysis, and integration of genomic datasets
  • Design analysis workflows for high-throughput screens and integrative data analysis
  • Maintain and further develop software tools and databases; curate new content based on literature
  • Support multi-omics data analysis (e.g., RNASeq, imaging)
  • Analyze and present results
  • Collaborate with internal and international partners
  • Support and administer internal web and Linux servers
