Role Overview
The Quality Control Biotechnologist will support microbiological quality assurance activities by preparing laboratory media, performing microbiological and analytical testing, and ensuring compliance with company standards and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities of a Biotechnologist
Laboratory & Testing
- Prepare bacteriological media for laboratory testing
- Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products in line with company and customer requirements
- Test samples for:
- Lactic acid bacteria counts
- Yeast counts
- Extraneous bacteria
- Perform HPLC and other laboratory analyses according to written protocols
- Record and report test results accurately
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure microbiological testing complies with ISO 9001 and FAMIQS standards
- Maintain and calibrate microbiological laboratory equipment in accordance with SOPs
- Support environmental monitoring activities as required
Technical Support
- Provide expertise in microbiological sampling techniques
- Support site-wide microbiological testing processes
Technical Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Degree, HNC, or HND (or higher) in Microbiology, Applied Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline
Desirable
- Experience working within quality systems such as ISO 9001, GLP, GMP, or FAMIQS
- Previous experience in a microbiology laboratory
Additional Assets
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation or engineering discipline
