Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) Scholarships
Academic Year 2026–2027
There are three scholarships available to undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Biological Sciences (DBS) for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The scholarship amounts vary each year and are not yet finalized.

DBS-Sponsored Scholarships
1. Avery E. and Erma L. Rich Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually to a full-time Biology major
- Preference: Seniors studying Plant Biology
- Awarded in spring of junior year for use in senior year
- Recipient is designated as The Avery Rich Scholar
Selection Criteria:
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Academic achievement
- Financial need
2. Ford Prince Scholarship in Plant Biology
Established in memory of Dr. Ford Prince, former Chair of the Agronomy Department.
For undergraduates enrolled in Plant Biology
Selection by the Biological Sciences Scholarship Committee
Selection Criteria:
- Outstanding academic achievement
- Academic excellence
- Preference: Students pursuing careers in agronomy or horticulture
3. Robert E. Richards ’75 Scholarship
Established in 2021 by Robert Richards’ family in honor of his lifelong passion for plants.
Awarded by the DBS Scholarship Committee
Selection Criteria:
- Academic merit
- Financial need
- Preference: Students studying Plant Biology

1. Noyce Scholarship
