Educational Requirements for the Laboratory Technologist Role:
- University degree in Biological Sciences or a related discipline
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and accurately log incoming samples into the LIMS system in the Biological Science Jobs
- Prepare and ship sampling materials to clients
- Maintain daily laboratory records and conduct routine equipment checks
- Operate the autoclave to sterilize microbiological materials
- In the Biological Science Jobs, you must ensure laboratory cleanliness, organization, and equipment functionality
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and calibrations
- Report equipment issues or deficiencies to the Laboratory Manager
- Support analysts with daily laboratory testing activities
- Prepare and maintain stocks of reagents, stains, and agar
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of basic environmental microbiology laboratory practices
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced laboratory environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting
- Intermediate French language skills are considered an asset
