This is a full-time, temporary, on-site role. Educational Requirements for the Research Associate Role:

Research Associate I

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline
  • 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience (academic or industry)

Research Associate II

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 1–2 years of relevant experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform purification of recombinant enzymes and other therapeutic biologics in the Biology Jobs at BioMarin
  • Execute chromatography workflows including affinity, ion exchange, SEC, HIC, and desalting
  • Perform concentration and buffer exchange using TFF or centrifugal filtration
  • Prepare buffers and reagents following established protocols in the Research Associate Role
  • Conduct analytical characterization using SDS-PAGE, CE-SDS, SEC-HPLC, RP-HPLC, and UV/Vis
  • Ensure accurate data capture, documentation, and reproducibility
  • Maintain electronic or paper laboratory notebooks
  • Follow SOPs and document deviations as required
  • Communicate results and progress updates to project teams
  • Support basic equipment maintenance and laboratory operations
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment in the Research Associate Role

Skills Required:

  • Experience with biologics purification and characterization techniques
  • Familiarity with AKTA Pure / AKTA Avant or similar chromatography systems
  • Knowledge of FPLC/HPLC and protein analytical methods
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with guidance in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as GraphPad Prism or JMP is a plus
