The Position in Life Science Internship
Department
The internship is based in the Chemistry Technologies department within the global unit Reagent Research and Design. The department develops chemical reagents for diagnostic applications and provides chemical solutions for both upcoming and existing diagnostic platforms across the entire product portfolio.
The Team
The intern will join an innovative research and development team consisting of nine employees with diverse scientific backgrounds. The team develops biochemical and chemical reagents using modern synthesis methods and establishes manufacturing processes for transfer to production. Collaboration, openness to new ideas, work–life balance, and teamwork are central to the team’s culture.
Objectives & Tasks
- Conjugate biomolecules and/or small molecules to particles for downstream or diagnostic applications
- Characterize conjugated products using selected instrumental analytical methods
- Document experimental work and present progress in project meetings
- Continuously develop scientific knowledge and technical expertise
- Implement regulatory requirements, applicable laws, and Roche Diagnostics principles related to quality, safety, and environmental protection

- Currently studying life science discipline
- Interested in an internship within a chemical research and development unit
- Practical experience and strong interest in modern bioconjugation and particle surface modification techniques
- Solid knowledge of instrumental analysis and characterization methods
- High motivation, resilience, and perseverance in solving complex chemical problems
- Reliable, conscientious, and structured working style
- Strong teamwork skills and effective communication
- Fluency in German and/or English
