Position Overview
The internship is based within the Translational Sciences group in the Neuroscience Discovery Research organization at AbbVie’s Ludwigshafen site in Germany. The intern will contribute to the development of novel biomarker approaches for neurodegenerative diseases within a collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop protein biomarker assays, including ELISA
- Optimize PBMC (peripheral blood mononuclear cell) isolation and analysis protocols to support neuroscience biomarker identification
- Plan, execute, analyze, and interpret experiments under the supervision of an experienced mentor
- Plan experimental details and maintain accurate laboratory notebooks
- Operate scientific equipment such as microplate readers and automated liquid handlers
- Use software tools to analyze and interpret experimental data
Qualification Required for Neuroscience Internship
- Master-level student in neuroscience, biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology, or a related life science field
- Previous laboratory experience in protein biochemistry and molecular and cellular biology is required
- Comfortable handling blood samples from both healthy individuals and patients
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken) with strong communication skills
- Ability to clearly structure and present scientific activities and results
- High scientific rigor and commitment
- Strong curiosity and flexibility
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
