Microbiology Job Role Overview
The QC Manager Microbiology serves as the key quality control contact for assigned pharmaceutical products, contributing technical expertise to ensure continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and reliable product supply. This role plays a central part in developing and optimizing microbiological QC processes while supporting operational excellence in a dynamic, international environment. The position is part of the Quality Control team and offers opportunities for professional growth and impact.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Responsible for QC processes within the microbiological laboratory, including cGMP-compliant release and stability testing for assigned products
- Drives continuous development of QC processes and operational excellence, including KPI analysis and evaluation
- Implements internal and external policies, procedures, and specifications, including personnel training
- Manages the life cycle of microbiological test methods, analytical equipment, and raw data documentation
- Supports the preparation and maintenance of internal product documentation and global regulatory dossiers
- Represents the microbiology QC function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) during inspections and audits
- Oversees operational laboratory management, including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) topics
- Supports the Head of Quality Control in release decisions (in Germany, according to §14 AMWHV)
Candidate Profile
- Holds a university degree in Microbiology or a related discipline
- Brings several years of experience in a GMP-regulated environment, including cross-functional project involvement
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of international regulatory requirements, cGMP, and pharmaceutical quality standards
- Possesses strong expertise in laboratory equipment and microbiological analytical methods
- Fosters a trust-based working environment through open communication and effective teamwork
- Exhibits strong self-awareness, system awareness, and a clear focus on innovation
- Shows a high level of commitment, engagement, and accountability
- Demonstrates strong analytical thinking and sound decision-making skills
