Role Overview
Müller Yogurt & Desserts is seeking a QA Food Science Specialist to join its Quality Assurance team. This key technical role acts as the scientific subject matter expert across UK sites, providing leadership in microbiology, chemistry, and process science.
The role ensures robust food safety, quality, and compliance standards while driving continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the scientific expert across Müller Yogurt & Desserts, covering microbiological, chemical, and physical food properties
- Lead the development, deployment, and governance of science-based technical standards and specifications
- Drive spoilage prevention, mould reduction, and pathogen control through data-led improvement plans
- Support root cause analysis of quality incidents and contribute to crisis and incident management
- Drive continuous improvement in laboratory quality systems, equipment capability, and horizon scanning for new technologies
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Group Quality, and external laboratories
- Coach and develop laboratory and site teams to strengthen quality capability across all levels
What the Role Requires?
- A science-based degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline
- Strong experience within food manufacturing, ideally FMCG or dairy, with a microbiology focus
- HACCP Level 4 and Food Safety Level 4 qualifications desirable but not essential
- A structured, analytical mindset with the confidence to challenge existing practices
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
