Educational Requirements for the Research Associate Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related scientific field
  • 0–3 years of industry experience in a related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct R&D experiments related to Microbial Solutions products and services in this Research Associate Job at Charles River Laboratories
  • Analyze and summarize experimental data with attention to detail
  • Present experimental results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Use scientific literature to plan and troubleshoot R&D projects
  • Support responses to customer, QA, Operations, and field-support inquiries
  • Maintain microbial freezer stocks in this Research Associate Job in the USA
  • Maintain, repair, and clean laboratory equipment
  • Purchase and stock laboratory supplies
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and SOPs
  • Assist in developing and reviewing controlled documents (SOPs, Work Instructions, Specifications)

Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of microbiology and molecular biology
  • Experience with aseptic technique and microbial cell cultures
  • Knowledge of DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, DNA sequencing, spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and phylogenetic analysis (desirable)
  • Experience with microbial identification technology (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
  • Strong documentation and analytical skills
