Position Overview

Labcorp is seeking an experienced Microbiology Technologist to join its Phoenix, Arizona laboratory team. The role operates in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting and contributes directly to delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results that support quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex microbiology testing in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper performance
  • Make technical decisions related to testing processes and problem resolution
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as required
  • Assist with specimen processing when necessary
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, or fulfillment of local regulatory (CLIA and State) requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience or possession of an MLS degree
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proficiency with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass a standardized color vision screening
  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as business needs require
