Position Overview
Labcorp is seeking an experienced Microbiology Technologist to join its Phoenix, Arizona laboratory team. The role operates in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting and contributes directly to delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results that support quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex microbiology testing in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper performance
- Make technical decisions related to testing processes and problem resolution
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls
- Report accurate and timely test results
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as required
- Assist with specimen processing when necessary
- Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, or fulfillment of local regulatory (CLIA and State) requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience or possession of an MLS degree
- ASCP or AMT certification preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Proficiency with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems preferred
- Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision screening
- Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as business needs require
