Educational Requirements for this Job:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) or Associate Degree in Biology or related discipline
- 0–2 years of laboratory experience (GMP experience preferred)
- Experience with microbiology culture techniques preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Process customer samples in accordance with current SOPs in this Biology Job at Charles River Laboratories
- Perform bacterial 16S rDNA and fungal ITS2 sequencing
- Conduct MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and ribotyping
- Receive, unpack, log, and subculture customer samples
- Aliquot and prepare reagents
- Perform isolation streaks, PCR, sequencing, and mass spectrometry
- Maintain, repair, and clean laboratory equipment in the Molecular Technologist Role
- Operate and maintain the laser cutter
- Ensure GMP compliance and regulatory adherence
- Dispose of microbial cultures and chemicals safely
- As a Molecular Technologist, you should collaborate with technical support to resolve discrepancies
- Suggest process improvements and support special lab projects
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and MSDS requirements in this Biology Job
Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of microbiology culture techniques
- Knowledge of microbiology, agar, and colony morphology
- Familiarity with mixed cultures or mixed samples
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented laboratory
- Understanding of GMP laboratory environments
- Problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills
