Position Overview
Ferrero Canada is seeking a Quality Lab Trainee (Microbiology) to join its Quality Control Laboratory team in Brantford, Ontario. In this internship role, the trainee will support microbiological testing and inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure quality and food safety compliance. All laboratory analyses must be conducted in accordance with Safety policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP/GLP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Ferrero Group standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect raw ingredients, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with food safety standards, production specifications, safety regulations, waste management, and water supply requirements
- Perform microbiological analyses in accordance with ISO 17025 standards to detect pathogens and bacteria in food ingredients
- Apply aseptic sampling techniques and conduct environmental monitoring
- Prepare media, weigh samples, perform testing, conduct environmental swabbing, and complete daily laboratory cleaning
- Ensure procedures are performed accurately and within required timelines
- Verify that finished products meet Ferrero’s established quality specifications
- Apply food science principles to optimize food processing, packaging, preservation, storage, and distribution
Candidate Qualifications
- Knowledge of microbiological procedures and techniques
- Understanding of GMP and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
