RD&A Technician Role Overview
The RD&A Technician supports Flavour Creation activities in Naas by assisting with ingredient weighing, process development, application work, and preparation of tastings to drive pipeline growth. The role also includes responsibility for maintaining laboratory operations to industry-class technical standards. A hands-on approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Flavourists by weighing ingredients, dispatching samples, preparing tastings, and maintaining a reference library of newly developed flavours
- Conduct slurry preparation and spray drying of flavours using both laboratory and pilot dryers
- Assist with laboratory and pilot trials, testing, and insights generation
- Maintain raw material and flavour stock, ensuring items remain within shelf life and are properly labeled
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and availability of consumables
- Follow HACCP guidelines and ensure proper use of laboratory safety equipment
- Participate in sensory panels and product evaluation activities
- Assess new flavour ingredients and technologies in simple solution formats to support flavour development and optimization
- Support feasibility studies, pipeline projects (PIP), and raw material (RM) issue resolution
- Conduct basic research activities under senior team supervision to improve existing products and develop new products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D technologists, production, quality, logistics, project management, and application teams
- Utilize company software and systems for daily R&D laboratory activities
Qualifications and Skills for Food Science Job
- Degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field
- Fluency in English (second language desirable)
- Knowledge of computer systems and laboratory terminals
- Strong organizational and data analysis skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated scientific curiosity
- Ability to taste and smell flavour ingredients and food products
- Ability to work in ambiguous environments with a proactive, self-motivated approach
