Role Overview
The Scientist MS&T Drug Product position is part of the Manufacturing Science & Technology (MS&T) Drug Product Lab team at Takeda in Singen, Germany. The role focuses on supporting innovative vaccine manufacturing by driving process development and optimization activities related to formulation, filling, and lyophilization. The scientist will collaborate with global teams to improve processes, troubleshoot technical challenges, and contribute to lifecycle management of drug products.
The position reports to the Manager MS&T Lab DP.
Key Responsibilities
Experimental Design and Execution
- Design, execute, and evaluate laboratory experiments in the Drug Product Lab.
- Focus on formulation, filling, lyophilization, and capping processes using both small-scale and pilot-scale automated systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with teams across MS&T, CMC, QA, QC, and Manufacturing to support process improvements, troubleshooting, and product lifecycle management.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Identify experimental limitations or technical issues during experiments.
- Analyze root causes, propose solutions, and prepare technical reports and summaries.
Process Development and Optimization
- Use scale-down models and standardized methods to characterize and optimize manufacturing processes.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Laboratory Operations
- Support laboratory operations including procurement, inventory management, and the introduction of new technologies.
Continuous Improvement
- Assist in deviation investigations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
Education
- Master’s degree (MSc) in a scientific discipline.
Experience
- Experience in vaccine or biologics drug product development, MS&T laboratories, or related environments such as start-ups.
- Experience in the conceptual design and execution of complex laboratory experiments.
Technical Expertise
- Strong expertise in formulation development, filling processes, freeze-drying (lyophilization), and process optimization.
- Hands-on experience with experimental design and troubleshooting.
Language Skills
- Excellent communication skills in German and English.
