Position Summary
The Sensory Insights Internship (ISI) offers students with expertise in sensory studies an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge to support innovation and renovation projects within Nestlé Health Science.
During the internship, the selected candidate will lead a project aimed at improving a core sensory methodology, such as similarity testing or sensory panel performance. The intern will also contribute to multiple projects involving sensory and consumer science methodologies, supporting product development and evaluation activities.
Key Responsibilities
Sensory Research Project
Lead a project focused on improving a sensory tool used by scientists within the department. The project topic will be determined closer to the start of the internship based on organizational needs.
Sensory and Consumer Studies
Support the execution, coordination, and facilitation of sensory and consumer research studies. Collaborate with scientists within the sensory team.
Documentation and Protocol Development
Assist in documenting and developing protocols for sensory tools and methodologies.
Study Design and Execution
Support or lead sensory testing activities including:
- Study design
- Planning and setup
- Data analysis
- Reporting of results
Study Materials Development
Prepare study documentation including:
- Screeners
- Questionnaires
- Protocols
- Test plans
Product Evaluation
- Participate in product tastings across a variety of product categories.
- Data Analysis and Reporting
- Summarize results from sensory and consumer studies.
- Prepare reports addressing study objectives and outcomes.
- Educational Requirements
Preferred
M.S. or Ph.D. candidates in Food Science with a specialization in Sensory Science or Consumer Science.
