Quality Control Scientist Position Overview
The Quality Control Scientist is responsible for testing raw materials and finished goods to ensure compliance with product specifications and regulatory requirements. The role includes investigating and troubleshooting analytical instrument performance issues while ensuring all testing is conducted according to established protocols and timelines.
The position reports to the Senior QC Manager and is part of the QC Department based in Logan, Utah.
Key Responsibilities
Analytical Testing and Quality Assurance
- Perform sample preparation, routine analytical testing, and inspection of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products.
- Ensure all testing meets product specifications, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Apply knowledge of chemistry, biology, and quality systems in laboratory operations.
Method Validation and Support
- Assist other QC scientists in validating and verifying testing methods to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Troubleshooting and Investigations
- Investigate and troubleshoot analytical instrument functionality and performance issues.
- Recommend and support corrective actions when necessary.
Collaboration and Performance
- Work with cross-functional teams to meet the QC department’s key performance indicators.
Laboratory Maintenance
- Support maintenance of QC laboratory equipment.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper organization of the laboratory environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a regulated quality control or academic laboratory.
- Experience with analytical chemistry and biochemical analytical techniques.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in regulated QC or academic laboratories using advanced analytical instruments such as ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
Additional Requirements
- Ability to lift and move up to 40 lbs for equipment handling and waste removal.
Compensation and Benefits for Scientist Job
- The annual salary range for this position is $57,500 – $95,000, subject to experience, qualifications, and other factors.
