Overview
The primary goal of this internship is to provide candidates with a genuine industry experience. Bioinformatics Intern Role Description
The intern will be part of the bioinformatics team working on software for a cutting-edge R&D cell biology platform and its associated analysis software application. The role involves close collaboration with bioinformaticians, data scientists, and software developers to enhance existing analysis approaches and improve software performance and maintainability.
Interns will have the opportunity to work on one of several project areas, including:
- Productionization of a protein annotation library
- Optimization of a data simulation library
- Expansion of an existing data analysis software toolkit
Across all projects, responsibilities will include reading, writing, testing, and improving Python code, as well as communicating progress through documentation, summaries, and presentations to both the team and the broader organization.

Candidate Profile (What You Bring)
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, or a related field from an accredited university
- Experience with one or more data science programming languages (Python, R, or Julia)
- Foundational knowledge in Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, and Data Science, with additional strength in at least one of these areas
- Experience with Unix/Linux command-line interface (preferred)
- Familiarity with Git command-line version control (preferred)
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Open to rising juniors, seniors, and master’s students
- Availability to commit full-time (40 hours per week) for 9 weeks from June 15 to August 14, 2026
- Must be located within commuting distance of Pleasanton, California

Compensation
