Course Description
The course is designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the application of materials science and protein chemistry within biotechnology. It covers advanced drug delivery systems, therapeutic strategies, biomaterials in medicine, pharmacology, and drug discovery. Additionally, it explores emerging disruptive technologies through case studies relevant to life science biotechnology.
Salary
- Sessional Lecturer I: $18,768 (inclusive of vacation pay; 0.5 FCE)
- Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $19,129 (inclusive of vacation pay; 0.5 FCE)
- Sessional Lecturer II: $19,129 (inclusive of vacation pay; 0.5 FCE)
- Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $19,129 (inclusive of vacation pay; 0.5 FCE)
- Sessional Lecturer III: $19,129 (inclusive of vacation pay; 0.5 FCE)
Note: If rates in the collective agreement differ, those rates will prevail.
Minimum Qualifications
- Recent research experience at the MSc or PhD level.
- Strong understanding of advanced molecular and cell biology, structural biology, and pharmacology.
- Knowledge of high-throughput screening methodologies and their early industry applications is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching this or a similar course at the university level.
- Preference is given to candidates at the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III, in accordance with Article 14:12.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver course content for a university credit course.
- Prepare and conduct lectures and instructional materials.
- Engage with students outside of class through email and office hours.
- Develop, administer, and grade assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Calculate and submit final grades.
- Order and manage required course readings.
