Position Overview
The organization is seeking an enthusiastic and self-driven individual to join the team. The team develops processes and technologies that underpin critical raw materials used in the manufacturing of engineered T cells, including viral vectors.
The primary focus of the Assistant Scientist role is to support upstream and downstream operations in a 250 L pilot laboratory for the production of AAV and lentiviral vectors used for gene delivery and gene editing of cell therapy products. The individual will support current programs, advance process development of scalable and manufacturing-friendly viral vector processes, and provide non-GMP grade viral vectors for pipeline-supporting studies. Responsibilities
The Assistant Scientist is responsible for:
- Performing upstream operations, including cell culture, bioreactor operation, and transfection conditions.
- Performing downstream operations, including depth filtration, normal flow filtration, tangential flow filtration, and chromatography.
- Preparing buffers and process solutions for pilot-scale production.
- Contributing to the planning and design of experiments, executing studies, and independently analyzing data.
- Maintaining proper documentation of process data.
Basic Qualifications
- M.S. or B.S. in Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Virology, or related disciplines.
- 0–2 years of industry experience in process development or related work.
- Ability to work independently with motivation, while managing multiple tasks and collaborating within teams.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including technical writing and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand scientific literature.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with downstream equipment and techniques such as chromatography (AKTA), UF/DF, and sterile filtration.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and experimental design.
- Familiarity with analytical assays such as HPLC and ELISA.

- Handling of hazardous materials is required.
- The position is 100% on-site.

This position is a contract assignment with ASK Staffing DBA ASK Consulting to provide services to Bristol Myers Squibb.
The starting hourly compensation for this assignment ranges from $38 to $42.67 per hour. Final compensation and benefits are determined by ASK Staffing, Inc., not Bristol Myers Squibb, and may vary based on factors such as experience, required skills, and job location. Compensation is subject to change.
