- Location: NTU Novena Campus, Singapore (Fully On-site)
- Job Requisition ID: R00024622
About The Institute
The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine is a landmark partnership between Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) and Imperial College London. LKCMedicine is widely celebrated for redefining modern medicine and transforming healthcare through high-relevance global discoveries. The school’s research engine focuses heavily on addressing evolving healthcare needs across five core domains, including Respiratory and Infectious Diseases. Housed within this infectious disease program is the JChen Lab, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Weiqiang (Javier) Chen. This dynamic, interdisciplinary research team is dedicated to uncovering the precise molecular and cellular mechanisms by which viral infections drive runaway inflammation, neurological injuries, and debilitating musculoskeletal diseases. By integrating molecular virology, cellular immunology, and advanced biomimetic disease models, the JChen Lab explores how emerging viral threats reprogram host immune responses and permanently disrupt tissue homeostasis across multiple organ systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Research Assistant, you will serve as both a hands-on bench scientist and an operational anchor for the JChen Lab, working closely with Dr. Chen and post-doctoral researchers to drive projects forward.
Your day-to-day duties will include:
- Experimental Benchwork: Performing a variety of molecular, cellular, and virology-based experiments under strict and appropriate biosafety conditions.
- Trial Coordination: Assisting senior scientists with initial experimental design, rigorous data collection, downstream analysis, and technical documentation.
- Operations & Housekeeping: Supporting overall laboratory operations, which includes precise reagent preparation, buffer making, and routine inventory or stock management.
- Data Organization: Contributing directly to research data organization and the preparation of figures, graphs, and text for scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participating in collaborative research activities and scientific discussions within the broader LKCMedicine community.
