Microbiologist Job – Key Responsibilities
As a Laboratory Microbiologist, your primary mission will be to identify new biomarkers for parasitic infections and develop rapid, accurate diagnostic tests that conform to established target product profiles (TPPs).
Your day-to-day bench and operational duties will include:
- Biomarker Research: Conducting biomarker discovery studies for various NTDs utilizing advanced protein purification, bioinformatics, and molecular biology techniques.
- Diagnostic Test Development: Working closely with lab staff to translate newly discovered biomarkers into highly functional tests, evaluating them for sensitivity, specificity, and other critical TPP characteristics using stored biological samples.
- External Evaluation: Evaluating diagnostic tests developed by external global partners to ensure strict conformance to disease-specific TPPs.
- Sample Management: Maintaining a rigorous inventory of stored samples, and coordinating the receipt and shipping of samples from domestic and international partners.
- Quality & Protocol Compliance: Ensuring the full range of routine methods and quality controls are correctly executed. You will follow standardized protocols for data collection, conduct risk assessments, and make methodological adjustments as necessary.
- Documentation & Authorship: Contributing to standard operating procedures (SOPs), validation plans, and technical reports. You will also author or co-author reference documents and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
- Field Assessments & Travel: Supporting the training and evaluation of tests in partner laboratories, which involves up to 10% travel, including potential international travel to endemic areas to participate in field assessments and conferences.
Qualifications & Skills Required For Microbiologist Job
