Microbiology QC Job Description
Microbiology QC Job responsibilities involve supporting GMP manufacturing through environmental monitoring, utilities monitoring, and microbiological testing. The Quality Control Analyst I – Microbiology is responsible for performing routine and non-routine environmental and utilities monitoring, conducting microbiological testing according to standard operating procedures, compiling testing data, reviewing analytical results for compliance with specifications, documenting laboratory activities, and reporting any out-of-specification or out-of-trend findings. The position also collaborates closely with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance teams to support cleanroom qualifications and client manufacturing campaigns.
Qualifications
Microbiology QC Job qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline or a related field.
- Minimum one year of experience in a cGMP-regulated laboratory.
- Familiarity with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques.
- Ability to work in classified cleanroom environments.
Preferred
- Experience with Environmental Monitoring (EM).
- Experience in Utility Monitoring.
- Experience performing Bioburden testing.
- Experience with Microbial Enumeration testing (USP <61> and USP <62>).
- Ability to isolate and identify microorganisms.
Microbiology QC Job – Key Responsibilities
- Perform environmental monitoring (EM) in classified cleanrooms.
- Monitor surfaces, air, and ISO 8 cleanroom conditions.
- Test USP water, clean steam, CDA, and nitrogen utilities.
- Conduct microbial enumeration, sterility, and growth promotion testing.
- Isolate and identify microorganisms.
- Monitor and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Update laboratory procedures, protocols, and logbooks.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance teams.
- Support environmental investigations and cleanroom qualifications.
- Assist GMP manufacturing operations and perform other assigned duties.
