Job Description
The Research Assistant will contribute technically and conceptually to the Hibshman lab’s research goals. The role involves conducting molecular, genetic, and biochemical experiments to screen for and optimize stress protectants, which will enhance the collaborative and interactive research environment within the department.
Research Assistant Jobs – Key Responsibilities
- Conduct experiments, document results and methods, and analyze data to contribute to ongoing research projects in the lab.
- Provide general laboratory support including preparing and maintaining common stocks of buffers for experimental assays, cleaning and sterilizing laboratory glassware, and maintaining laboratory databases.
- Meet with the supervisor regularly.
- Attend lab meetings, and other staff and departmental meetings and seminars.
Eligibility Criteria Required For Research Assistant Jobs
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a biological research laboratory is required.
- Prior experience with techniques in molecular biology, bacterial culture, and biochemical techniques is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Google Docs.
