Bioinformatician Job Description
The successful candidate will join the Proof of Concept Clinical Applications team within R&D, focusing on evaluating novel applications of Oxford Nanopore sequencing technology for human diseases, particularly rare diseases. This Bioinformatician Job involves interpreting sequencing data generated by lab scientists and developing proof of concept workflows to demonstrate the technology’s capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate sequencing data to identify experimental design potential.
- Evaluate appropriate bioinformatics tools for applications and perform custom analyses.
- Deliver assigned analysis tasks while managing priorities and design decisions.
- Support the evaluation and development of proof-of-concept analyses.
- Develop initial proof-of-concept pipelines for various sequencing data.
- Collaborate with laboratory scientists to refine experimental designs and interpret data.
- Contribute to conference talks and posters with analysis and figure contributions.
- Stay updated with developments in other applications groups.
Bioinformatician Job Eligibility Criteria
To be successful, candidates should possess an MSc or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, with a background in Biological Science or Computer Science. A PhD or relevant job experience is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of performing bioinformatics analyses and have practical experience with large human datasets, ideally in a clinical research setting.
