Microbiology Technician Job Description

In this Microbiology Job, the successful candidate will work closely with factory and technical teams to ensure high levels of microbiological quality assurance are achieved and maintained. Responsibilities include performing a range of microbiological tests and techniques to provide effective and efficient service to internal customers.

Eligibility Criteria

Microbiology Technician Job eligibility criteria include:

  • Degree in relevant Science subject or other relevant qualification.
  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience in microbiology.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing (Preferred – not essential).
  • Knowledge of UK & EU standards and legislation (Preferred – not essential).
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Competency in microbiological testing activities and techniques such as finished product testing, raw material testing, environmental monitoring, water sampling.
  • Ability to provide microbiological expertise regarding routine monitoring and testing.

Microbiology Technician Job – Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of microbiological tests and techniques.
  • Ensure all tasks are conducted and relevant data recorded, checked and approved in accordance with GMP, GLP, and GDP.
  • Plan own workload and manage resources providing effective testing service.
  • Communicate issues / problems / progress efficiently and effectively.
  • Participate in the maintenance and upkeep of the laboratory and its associated data ensuring consistent audit preparation.
  • Pro-active communication with customers and stakeholders regarding progress or issues.
  • Proactively contribute to reviews of testing regimes and ways of working ensuring continuous improvements.
  • Work closely with all other members of the Microbiology team to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner and the laboratory is left clean and tidy at the end of every working day.
  • Contribute to reviews of testing regimes and ways of working to ensure the Microbiology team works in the most cost-effective way and adds value to the business.
