Job Description
As a Duke University research technician, the successful candidate will perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in conducting laboratory tests, experiments, and determinations to support research operations at Duke University. The role involves compiling, analyzing, documenting, and drawing conclusions from experimental results while collaborating with principal investigators to develop research plans.
Duke Research Technician Eligibility Criteria
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in botany, biology, zoology, or a related scientific field is required.
- Experience: No additional experience is required beyond the educational qualifications, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience is acceptable.
- Degrees, Licensures, Certifications: None required beyond the educational qualifications, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct physical, chemical, biological, and other research laboratory tests and experiments.
- Compile and analyze data to draw tentative conclusions from experimental results.
- Confer with principal investigators to review work assignments and develop research plans.
- Set up instruments and operate laboratory equipment for specific tests.
- Prepare culture media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions.
- Maintain inventory of materials and clean laboratory equipment.
- Assist in training new personnel and review work of lower-level laboratory staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $19.06 to USD $28.85. Factors such as position scope, candidate experience, and market considerations are taken into account when extending an offer.
